Groot Eiland, Velt and De Harmonie present Helifarm. Helifarm is a project that wants to stimulate and organise sustainability, social cohesion, integration and education in the Heliport neighbourhood. In cooperation with local residents, the three organisations are committed to starting up a professional city vegetable garden and a community garden on the Heliport plateau. Local residents can get involved in the project in different ways to create a pleasant, safe and green space together. Volunteer gardeners can participate in the community garden where Velt offers practical sessions and technical support. All yields from the garden are for their own consumption. In addition, Groot Eiland is starting a professional urban vegetable garden in collaboration with people in employment care. The vegetables grown here will be sold to local quality restaurants. Groot Eiland has more than 30 years of experience with social inclusion and now has three vegetable gardens in Molenbeek and Anderlecht. Velt specialises in setting up community gardens and organising training courses. Finally, De Harmonie supports the participatory process with local residents based on its knowledge of the neighbourhood. By developing a 'controlled' activity on the Helihaven plateau that is supported by the neighbourhood, Groot Eiland, Velt and De Harmonie aim to create dynamism, social cohesion and cleanliness on the site.
